Praying for the Spiritual Transformation of the Next Generation

My heart is burdened for revival! Not revival services... but genuine revival where believers are broken, the lost are saved and God is glorified.
  • Genuine revival where prayer is the fuel that launches the church into bold, confident and fearless evangelism!
  • Genuine revival where communities are shook up, the kingdom we fight against trembles and bride of Christ purified!
  • Genuine revival where the church becomes more about reaching the lost rather than subjecting herself to the "consumer-worshipper"!
  • Genuine revival where people serve others first and God is loved!
Will you join me in prayer for revival? Will you ask God to change YOU...to enable you to become FEARLESS in evangelism just as the Apostle Paul asked in Ephesians 6:19?

Greg Stier, founder of Dare 2 Share Ministries, has a video podcast called Dare 2 Share Uncensored. I believe God put that podcast in my life for the purpose of confirming to me that what is on my heart is directly Divine. The August 1 Podcast - "Principle 1: Pray for the Spiritual Transformation of the Next Generation" is... TIMELY! It is a message for the church - not just student ministries - to hear. PASTORS need to hear this message! YOUTH PASTORS... STUDENT VOLUNTEERS... PRAYER WARRIORS... WORSHIP LEADERS... EVERY BELIEVER needs to hear this message!

Coaching

Coaching has to be one of the greatest opportunities in a person's life. Where else can you be around something you love while leading others to succeed at the same time? You can "coach" anywhere... in sports, in the classroom, at home, at work, in ministry....

As a coach... you are many things to different people. To some, you fill the role of an absent father. To others, you and your family become a standard of living. Better still, you become a consistent force/influence in the life of another.

But more than anything, to be a coach is to be a servant-leader. HOW? One... you have to set the example. Two... you have to love the people you are coaching. Three... you lead by serving - by washing the feet of those around you.

In order for your team to win -- whether it's your family, your Bible study group, your son's or daughter's rec team or your work force -- you (the coach, parent, supervisor, teacher, pastor) have to wash their feet. (speaking of that... I need to help my wife get my kids ready for the day...)

OK... I am back.

Just as Jesus washed His disciples feet and commanded them to do the same, so coaches (whatever role you play) have the awesome task of serving those he/she coaches.

Life is not about YOU. It's really about putting the needs of others before yourself and coaching them to be great by becoming a servant! In doing so, you (WE) create a culture of leaders who are leading by example and washing the feet of other people.

I pray this will be true in my life. How can I serve you today?

Here are a couple of great resources for you:
  • For a great book to read on coaching and life... Read Jeffery Marx's book, Season of Life.
  • If you are in the Athens area, I would encourage you to spend some time with my good friend Shane Todd - owner/operator of two Chick-fil-a's in Athens. Shane is a successful businessman who is a great coach and continues to practice what it means to be a servant leader in ministry and business.

Fireproof

Check out the latest from the creators of Facing the Giants! My good friend and colleague, Stephen Durvan, plays one of the firemen in the film.

Team Building Games

I have used this resource to develop "team building talks" for the Winder-Barrow Football Team's Football Camp.

Pop's Update

Today has been a better day for Pop. His BP has been down this afternoon and we are hoping that Saturday will be his homecoming (glad it's not homegoing). We look forward to having Pop back home taking pictures of his grandkids and family. This picture was taken at a recent Christmas party.
There have been people literally all over the world praying for Pop. From Jibou Baptist Church in Romania to Belmont Baptist in Covington, GA, to the YMCA in Winder...there have been a bunch of people praying on Pop's behalf.
On behalf of my family, thank you all for your love, support, visits, prayers, cards, calls, emails, posts, text messages, and any other form of communication which you have used to express your concern. We love each and every one of you.
