Grandkids and Goatees

Today was a better day for Pop.

Although he is dealing with a little bit of "pressure" (thanks David Regan... www.youtube.com), and getting his BP to stay down, he is ready to get up and start walking.

This afternoon Pop had a couple of guests come see him. Jared and Elisabeth (two of Pop's grandkids) got the opportunity to hang out with Pop in his tiny hospital room (or as Jared says, his hotel room). Sis was all about seeing Pop and Grammy and digging into the snack basket.

Pop was looking a little scraggly, so Mom asked if I could give him a shave. Since I haven't shaved my goatee in 12 years, out of pure habit, Pop got a goatee. Mom doesn't like it, so I would imagine it will be coming off real soon!

Tastes like a T-bone steak

When anyone is on some of that crazy medicine for surgery and pain management... it can make you say funny things while at the same time causing quite a bit of memory loss.

While Pop was in CVICU, he was able to have some ice chips. While my brother West was giving him some ice chips Pop said, "This tastes like a T-bone steak."

Pop is still in quite a bit of pain. He had some "expected" complications from the surgery that were treated last night. Please continue to pray for my Mom and Dad as they begin to make transitions back home.

Dad's movin' on up

Pop has been moved from cvicu to room 308 at St. Joe's.
He is in quite a bit of pain, but is on his way out of here.
If you are planning to visit today, we would ask that you make your visits brief or plan to come tomorrow. Thank you for your understanding!
Thank you all for your prayers... expressions of concern... and offers to help. My family truly appreciates each and every one of you!

Chris Rumble, I love you with all my heart (pun intended).

He looks so peaceful!

West said he was "in a better place". I said..."he looks so peaceful." Another said, "it looks just like him." Sounds like we're at a funeral.

No... we are still at the hospital and are just grateful for a successful surgery.

Also... the humor above is really for Dad. You have to know my dad to understand the kind of humor he appreciates.

Surgery went well

Dad's surgery went well this morning. He had a double by-pass surgery and we should be able to see him in a little while.

thanks for all the prayers and encouragement.

Pop's prayer

Not many are blessed to have the kind of Dad my brother and I have. This morning, just prior to Dad going back for surgery, from his hospital bed, he gathered all of us - Mom, Suzanne, West, Lisa, his pastor and Mae, and me - to pray.

Typically, a pastor is there to minister to the patient and his family. But my Dad ministered to all of us by praying for each of us and our families.

We have a great Dad!

He just went back to surgery (6:35am) and will be in there for about 5 hours. Thank you for all your prayers.

Dad's Surgery changed

Dad's surgery has been moved from 12PM to 6AM tomorrow morning.

He had a tough day today with quite a bit of chest pain, so he was moved to ICU. Again, on behalf of my family, we greatly appreciate your prayers and encouragement.

Surgery Scheduled

Dad's surgery will be Monday, July 28, at 12PM at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta.

Consider this:
Dad will be operated on a guy named "Macheers" and be anesthetized by a guy named "Mo". After his surgery, we will have Mo-Cheers!

No Visitors Today

At the request of my Mom, we are asking for no visitors today.

Dad had to be monitored very frequently last night because his blood pressure soared. Needless to say, he did not get a lot of rest.

If you would like to speak with someone in the family, please call me on my cell at 678-227-9947.

Thank you for understanding.

Spencer

My dad

My dad - Tony Breedlove - is in the hospital at St. Joseph's in Atlanta. Last week, he had a stress test and a heart cath that revealed three blockages in his arteries. He will undergo open heart surgery on Monday, July 28, to by-pass those blockages.

We appreciate all your prayers and encouragement.

We have established a care page at www.carepages.com. The name of Dad's care page is TonyDBreedlove. Please feel free to visit and leave messages for my Mom and Dad. I know they appreciate the prayers and have been strengthened through them!
